Panel of service providers validates the need for fundamental change in billing software to drive business model innovation.
Our heads are in the clouds, so to speak, as we won the Cloud Innovation award presented last night at Pipeline Publishing’s 2012 Innovation Awards dinner during the TM Forum Management World event in Dublin, Ireland. A distinguished panel of service-provider judges and analysts validated what we see as a need for fundamental change in the the way billing solutions delivered. True “billing experts” from AT&T, BT, Cox, Intelsat, TELUS, Turkcell, and Yota singled out TRACT – Transverse’s SaaS subscription and activity-based rating and billing solution – for this coveted award.
TRACT won over numerous sophisticated legacy bililng and rating providers such as Redknee and up-and-coming SaaS subscription management and recurring payments providers, such as Zuora (who don’t include rating and entitlement engines for the ability to manage “activities.”)
The list of nominees for the awards overall read like a who’s-who of the most prominent SaaS, enterprise billing and BSS players. The judges’ choices in the Cloud Innovation and other categories validated the importance of moving billing beyond the confines of legacy enterprise platforms.
TRACT won because it is a true billing and rating solution delivered via SaaS. TRACT provides a fundamental downward shift in the cost model for billing solutions, which in turn enables business model innovation to occur by removing the “software tax” associated with expensive bespoke on-premise solutions.
Today, too often, the term “SaaS billing” refers to either simple recurring payment solutions veiled by slick Salesforce integrations or legacy billing systems masked to look like cloud applications.
At Transverse our mission is to build complete billing solutions delivered through the cloud – alleviating the time, cost and stress normally associated with big enterprise deployments or force fitting an incomplete solution into the back-office. TRACT could only be built by a team with decades of experience in solving the world’s toughest billing issues, and it could only be built from the ground up for the cloud. TRACT brings robust legacy enterprise BSS functionality with a SaaS value proposition and, therefore, it also breaks the vendor lock-in business model still so prevalent in the billing and BSS industry today.
