Bringing Open Source to the Telecom Back Office
Unlike traditional BSS/OSS solutions providers,Transverse uses an open source platform we call the Business Logic Execution Environment and Platform, or blee(p),to offer Communications Service Providers (CSP) greater business agility, while breaking down traditional closed-source cost structures and putting an end to vendor lock-in.
We are a commercial open source company. Our business model is based on selling added-value services to customers and partners, installing, deploying, and operating our end-to-end blee(p) B/OSS solution. These services include first and second level support, installation and configuration, custom development, training, and specialized management consulting. If our customer prefers not to comply with the terms of a public open source license, Transverse offers a commercial license.
At Transverse, we believe that the back office for the communications industry is at the cusp of a fourth major evolutionary change. Market competition, highly personalized services and new technologies that reduce total cost of ownership are driving carriers to look at the real cost imposed by their legacy systems, which present a major roadblock to competing in this new environment. CSPs are all too familiar with the following issues inherent in proprietary back office applications:
- High cost related to license fees, integration, maintenance and system modifications
- Time-to-market constraints that significantly delay the delivery of new services
- Lack of flexibility imposed by hard-coded systems making it difficult for operators to modify the system quickly or easily to meet market demands
The stakes are high for telecom service providers. With the market reaching a point of saturation, the path to reduced operating costs while increasing ARPU is becoming more difficult to navigate. Transverse not only provides a back office solution that costs significantly less, we shift the entire back office cost in favor of the carrier, and by engaging Transverse CSPS will experience these benefits:
- Access to innovation through the Transverse open source community of developers
- Elimination of vendor lock-in and mandatory product up-grades and end of life product cycles
- Unprecedented flexibility in the telecom back office
